About the presenter

Glyn Potts is currently the headteacher of Saint John Henry Newman RC College in Oldham. Newman is a large secondary school serving a diverse community where 45% of students are in receipt of ‘Free School Meals.’ Oldham is part of the governments ‘Education Investment Zones’ which typically serve areas of fragility and where recruitment is more challenging. Despite this, Glyn has used his 20 years’ experience in education to build a unified and committed team who reveal in challenges that others would turn from.

Glyn was awarded the ‘Inspirational Teacher of the Year’ award in 2010, has a masters degree in Catholic Educational Leadership and a second masters in Youth Leadership. He is an active member of the Army Cadet Force within the North West. He is a serving Deputy Lieutenant in Greater Manchester and he was awarded an MBE in May 2022 for Services to the Army Cadet Force and Education.
