What is Leader-Connect?

Leader-Connect is a Cumbrian based leadership training company based in Kendal but we work all over the UK and have also had a member of our team working full-time in Libya for 18 months.  There are two aspects to the business:

We work for a range of clients including school leadership teams, universities and businesses.  In recent years clients have included Sanofi, BDP Singapore Ports, The University of Sheffield, SOAS,  Alertacall and Abingdon Learning Trust.  Our work with each organisation varies, ranging from coaching and one-day offsites up to multi-module accredited leadership development courses.  This year we have trained 24 University leaders from Sheffield and it is the fourth year of us running that course.  This course is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and all graduated are awarded the letters MIoM after their name.

The other aspect of Leader-Connect is the online learning platform.  Organisations can subscribe leaders to the platform, or individuals can subscribe.  The platform has video learning courses that are ideal for new and middle leaders.  The courses explain a lot of the basic principles of leadership: the concepts that leaders need to know but almost certainly don’t.  So, for example, in ‘The Leadership Course for Managers with Neil Jurd OBE”  there are modules covering the difference between leadership and management, the importance of clear and compelling purpose and how to build positive relationships.

Each video is under 10 minutes long and followed by a short test to help embed the learning.  There are courses on Leader-Connect covering a range of useful subjects for leaders, so as well as short and long courses on leadership there are also courses on team-development and leadership, planning, public speaking, mental health for leaders and various other topics.  To check out the range of excellent online courses aimed at leaders in education or business, click here.

 The online platform is ideal as a way for SMEs to develop leadership and we have a growing number of SME subscribers to the platform.  In recent months we have signed up UK tech company Alertacall (25 users) to the platform, as well as consultancy company TSG (20 users) Abingdon Learning Trust (35 users starting Sept 25) and SOAS (8 users).  The Leadership learning platform is easy to use and successful completion of a course generates a signed certificate.

As well as online courses Leader-Connect also offers a wide range of individual videos on leadership related subjects.  Some videos are free to view and some require a subscription. Contributors include Vicky Hayhurst who has created an excellent set of videos for University Leaders and school leader Dr Chris Baker with his excellent Leadership Launchpad videos and a wide range of other presenters covering topics from brain health, physical fitness, leadership case-studies and coaching.  There are also hundreds of hours of excellent and interesting Podcasts on Leader-Connect, including UK and US presenters including former. US Navy submariner Jon Rennie and Canvas founder Jez Benton.  You can access the podcasts without a subscription.
