Today, I’m joined by Paul McEnroe, the man who led The Team that Invented the Barcode. Paul is an award-winning engineer who developed multiple state-of-the-art technologies during his long career, including more than two decades in leadership positions at IBM.

Paul is best known for his primary role in developing the Universal Product Code (UPC), the barcode used on every product in supermarkets and the retail industry, and the scanners that read them. His brand new book is called The Barcode: How a Team Created One of the World’s Most Ubiquitous Technologies. It tells the tale of the Team that Invented the Barcode.
