About this podcast

In this podcast Neil chats with school leadership expert Glyn Potts MBE DL.  Glyn worked his way up from Teaching Assistant to Headteacher and then led a large school in Oldham through Covid whilst facing significant problems with structural problems with his school building.  Glyn is also Deputy Colonel Cadets for the Army Cadets in the NW of England, having previously served as Deputy Commandant of Greater Manchester Army Cadets.  He was awarded the MBE for services to Education as a headteacher, and he is also a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester.

 

Glyn talks about his course ‘How to Lead a School‘ – a course for Heads, Deputy Heads and aspiring school leaders, which he has recorded for Leader-Connect.  Glyn and Neil talk about the course content, including the importance of Headteachers setting Vision and Purpose for schools, how to work with and support Trustees and Governors, and how strike the right balance between being visible and getting things done.
