At Leader-Connect we believe that good leadership makes the world a better place, and so to support that ideal we make a lot of our leadership development resources and course material available for free, for you to view, download and use.

You should find all the content you need to run your own leadership and team development sessions, although we suggest you study the content yourself before you try to do so.  You will find free leadership development handouts, videos, training aids, and personality profiling, and you are also able to download for free a pdf version of Neil Jurd’s ‘The Leadership Book’.   We have created this bank of free resources in the hope that they will be used where they will make a difference, developing leadership in worthwhile organisations where there is important work to do, but where there is little or no budget.

The leadership theory cards present key leadership theory ideas – with simple graphics and explanatory text presenting the most useful leadership and team development theory that managers need to know, including ‘The Performance Equation’ , Bruce Tuckman’s stages of team development, and the communication pyramid.

The theory cards are designed so you can download and print, but they can also be used as the basis of a slide-deck presentation.  When we run courses we hand out the cards as aide-memoires for students.  You will also find some exercises presented on cards, including Neil Jurd’s 3-Lines of Connection model which can be used to measure the strength of internal connections within and organisation.

You will also find a free online personality assessment tool, based on the Merril Reid Social Styles assessment.  A simple online test will allows you to discover your own profile: Driver, Amiable, Extrovert or Expressive.  If all the members in a team complete the process, then this can generate a very useful developmental discussion.  The online test takes about 5 minutes to do.

You will also find a pdf of the latest edition of the bestselling ’The leadership Book’ here.  The book gets very high review scores on Amazon, but we realise that not everyone who need the book can afford the cover price, and also that there are parts of the world where the book would be very hard to source.

We know the book has proven useful for leadership development in various NGOs and charities, and we are very keen to make the book available wherever it is most needed.  We have found that giving the book away like this doesn’t have any impact on physical book sales, because generally where people are able to buy the book they do.  If you do use the pdf version of the book, you can cut and paste text of graphics and create training aids, but please credit the book and any underlying references for any models you show.

We also have a large number of leadership and team related content freely available on Leader-Connect.  This video, ‘Leadership Basics’ is a very useful for team development, and you might choose to base a leadership development session around the video.

In this video, Neil Jurd explains that leadership is a simple concept which is easy to understand and easy to apply.  To develop leadership, watch the video and then have a discussion about how you can apply the lessons.
