The Association for Families of Independent Schooling (AFIS) is the only membership organisation that brings together families who choose and value independent education in the U.K. and British international schooling.
Their work supports member families, and the whole sector, championing parental choice, securing fairer representation for independent-schooling families, supporting members with benefits and resources, and widening access to independent education. They also provide a valuable network for all families who opt for private schooling, whatever their circumstances and reasons for doing so.
With our military background, we support the AFIS as many military families face difficult educational choices for their children and some have to attend independent schools with boarding facilities to ensure a continuity of education. Although the MOD meets some of the costs, the AFIS understands the financial pressure on the families and also seeks to dispel the myths about independent schooling.
